Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced person to play a key role in shaping and implementing communication and outreach strategies for the Feed the Future Global Biotech Potato Partnership (GBPP) project. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, and the Communications Global Resource Lead based at Michigan State University to ensure effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and outreach efforts.

ABOUT FFB

Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB) is a science and evidence-based visionary organization aimed at improving the enabling environment for scientific solutions for sustainable development. We strive to drive positive change and contribute to the overall well-being of the people. Based in Dhaka, FFB operates in collaboration with the Alliance for Science, Boyce Thompson Institute, Cornell University, and Michigan State University, with support from USAID and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

About Feed the Future Global Biotech Potato Partnership

The Feed the Future Global Biotech Potato Partnership is a five-year cooperative agreement between Michigan State University and USAID to develop and bring to market a three R-gene Late Blight resistant potato in farmer-preferred varieties in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, and Nigeria. In Bangladesh the project partners with Bangladesh Agricultural Research Inistitue (BARI) and Farming Future Bangladesh in Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilites
  • Develop a detailed communication and stakeholder engagement strategy with a comprehensive work plan.
  • Prepare monthly social media engagement plan and create high-quality content including human interest stories for social media, newsletters and project website to maintain consistent messaging.
  • Share progress reports, activity reports, and official responses as required.
  • Execute stakeholder engagement events for the project, draft and share event reports/proceedings.
  • Prepare press releases and lead media relations to enhance project visibility.
  • Initiate and implement photo and video documentation of the project.
  • Monitor media activities, provide detailed monthly reports, and proactively translate media contents for internal and external audience.
  • Assist in project management for meetings, workshops, and field visits, including travel arrangements, preparing power points.
  • Represent FFB and the Executive Director in various project activities.
  • Collaborate with key project officials at BARI for regular updates on project activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements:

Master’s in communication and journalism, or other advanced degree related to science communication and outreach work.

Job related experience and knowledge
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a communication professional, specializing in content creation and curation, reporting, documentation, and knowledge management.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication in both English and Bangla, ability to translate technical information into clear English and Bangla, with proficiency in editing.
  • Skills in formatting documents for publication or reporting, preparing presentations, and using office suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required.
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas for work is essential.
  • Previous experience working with USAID or other donor-funded programs is preferred.
  • Understanding of international development issues, particularly in food security and modern agriculture.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability under pressure, and meeting deadlines are critical.
